As prison populations continue to grow and more and more people are supervised by probation and parole it becomes a major safety issue to recognize those who are considered to members of security threat groups who are now under supervision. This course will discuss the characteristics of the group inside the prison as well as the groups actions and influence on the street. It will look at the history of these groups and how they have evolved and developed their influence in the illegal markets inside and outside of prison. The course will also look at the identification of members, leadership roles, and the mentality of these individuals. Lastly it will look at how these gang members interact with Corrections Officers, Police Officers, and Probation and Parole Officers.
