This class will discuss the basics of interview and interrogation and provide the participant with an understanding of the physical and psychological aspects of conducting interviews and interrogations. It will examine the behavioral and kinetic aspects of suspect behavior as well as the linguistic aspects of interviewing. It will briefly describe the styles and techniques that are used to determine guilt. It will provide the participant with an understanding of deception and key verbal and non-verbal issues to observe when a person is being dishonest. The presentation will help the participant structure an interview and provide information on asking questions in a strategic logistic manner. Lastly the presentation will examine deception in written statements.
